Wilfred turns 6 months in a few days time. It’s a cliche, but the baby days go so quickly and he will be a toddler in the blink of an eye. So to capture this time in his life (complete with squidgey thighs, gorgeous giggles, and splayed frogs legs when he sleeps), I decided to create some handprint artwork today to remember just how little he once was. Of course I couldn’t leave out Stanley, so we wanted to create a few pictures where he could get involved too.
We decided to create animals from their handprints, to make artwork we could frame for their nursery in Dubai. After a bit of research online for inspiration, we settled on camels, elephants, and dinosaurs – and here’s what we created…
Here’s a few pictures of us creating the pictures – although there are no pictures of Wilfred as our concentration was firmly on getting a 6 month old to place his hand in the correct spot without smudging the paint all over the paper (obviously this happened… We luckily had a few gooduns)…
If you try them out, I’d love to see your artwork!
Love this! I have done this with my two year old a few times, but never neat enough to frame! I have been looking for ideas to decorate his room a bit so you have inspired me to give it another try!
Really enjoying reading your blog as I have a two year old little boy and we are living in Dubai! X
Thanks so much for commenting Charlotte! We both have two year old boys living in Dubai – we should get together for a play date when we are back in September.Try the handprint art – you may be surprised by how much easier it is now he’s bit older. Stanley loved it – it was definitely the 6 month old that was the challenge! (blue face!) x
